JudgeCast #41 – State Based Action Robots

How well do you know your State Based Actions?  Could you name all 21 of them?  Could you accurately compare them to some cartoon that only Bryan is aware of? After this show, you’ll be able to do all of that and more! (Ok, you still won’t know how Archenemy works but you should be able to live without that)

On top of that, we have the mythic rare man/JudgeCast mascot Raven Fox on to help us cover all the ins and outs of SBAs, and maybe even read off some e-mails from listeners just like you.

UPDATE: The SBAs for Legendary permanents and Planeswalkers have changed since this recording. The updated rules are the following:

704.5j. If a player controls two or more planeswalkers that share a planeswalker type, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “planeswalker uniqueness rule.”

704.5k. If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.”

JudgeCast #40 – The Loucksiest Cast

Jess unfortunately couldn’t join us for this podcast, so Bryan and CJ soldier on with a very special guest: Jon Loucks from Limited Resources!

We kick the show off with some discussion on the Cavern of Souls ruling, do a crack a pack (A dream come true really) and then barrage Jon with rules questions as we go through the steps needed to become a Level 1 judge!

We wrap up by announcing the winner of our “Judgebreaker” contest and reading mails from listeners just like YOU.

“To prejudge other men’s notions before we have looked into them is not to show their darkness but to put out our own eyes.” – John Locke

JudgeCast #37 – Unlimited Resources

Bryan Prillaman joins Jess and CJ again for another action-packed episode of JudgeCast.  (If you listen real close you can hear a high speed chase in the background, followed by an explosion.  ACTION)  We go over the new abilities coming in Avacyn Restored and muse on what might be in the Helvault.

When Bryan isn’t actually cleaning up his dog’s puke he talks about his recent experience with lapsing abilities, and we go over a few examples to really hammer it home.

Finally, we talk about a bunch of resources you (yes YOU) can use to improve as a judge, and announce the winner of our very first contest!  Got a resource we missed?  Send us a mail at judgecast@gmail.com!

As always, we also read listener e-mails and babble.
